Epson introduces Wi-Fi Direct PictureMate PM-400 mini-inkjet printer

06:01
Epson has announced the PictureMate PM-400, a new addition to its PictureMate range of miniature inkjet printers. It features Wi-Fi Direct and is able to print from smartphones and tablets wirelessly even beyond the reach of a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Epson PictureMate PM-400 is capable of producing 3.5 x 5in, 4 x 6in and 5 x 7in prints, and uses a single four-color CMYK cartridge that contains all four ink tanks.

Epson claims the tank has capacity for 100 4 x 6in photo prints, which we should expect to be smudge, scratch, water and fade resistant. The company says that the prints, which should have a life-span of 200 years if stored in an album, can be produced at a rate of one 4 x 6in print per 36 seconds.

The head for each color uses 180 nozzles to deposit droplets as small as 2 picolitres at a resolution of 5700x1440dpi.

As well as Wi-Fi Direct, the printer can be connected by a USB 2.0 port and integrated into a wireless network with Wireless 802.11 b/g/n. The machine supports Epson Connect™6, Epson Email Print, Epson iPrint™ Mobile App, AirPrint™, Google Cloud Print™, Android Printing and Remote Print. An SD card slot is also available, and images can be previewed on the 2.7in LCD screen. The device measures 9.8 x 15.1 x 7.9 inches when ready to print and the hopper can hold up to 20 sheets of Epson's Premium Photo Paper Glossy. Ink and paper can be purchased separately, or in a bundle that includes ink and paper for 100 prints.

The Epson PictureMate PM-400 costs $249.99. For more information visit the Epson website.
